My final thoughts on Qatar is that its a great place to live and it has a bright future. At first I didn’t think that I would enjoy the company visits but as I got to meet the managers at each company my mind changed drastically. I was able to talk with them about how they enjoyed life in Qatar vs their home countries. All of the managers I had met told me that they loved living in Qatar because of the job opportunities there and how welcoming the country was. My favorite company visit was the date factory. The manager there was very welcoming and it felt as if he had invited to his own home. My favorite cultural visit was the Islamic education center. Although I am Muslim, it was nice to see my colleagues around me being introduced to my religion. The best part from the entire trip for me personally was the VR experience we were able to do to see what Makkah was like back in the day. As someone whose never visited Makkah before it was truly breathtaking. A big part about the trip that I really enjoyed was the freedom we had to explore the country. I heard that the country was very conservative but its different when you are able to see it with your own eyes. The culture here is very different then it is in America. There’s a very calm and relaxed nature to the country. No one seems like they are in a rush or seem rowdy. Growing up in Houston my entire life I’ve always been used to the big city life. In Qatar at night it would seem like the whole city would be asleep. Another great experience I had was visiting some of the local mosques. I was taken away from how massive some of the mosques were and the attention to detail for how the interior was designed.
