Studying abroad was an incredible opportunity for me to broaden my horizons. I was able to immerse myself in a new culture, and gain valuable academic and personal experiences. Barcelona, as I have learned, is the capital of Catalonia, one of 17 autonomous regions in Spain. It is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, stunning architecture, and overall European lifestyle. As students studying business abroad, we had the chance to explore the city’s entrepreneurial spirit and witness firsthand how it had become a hub for innovation and start-ups. Barcelona offered us a unique blend of academic, personal, and practical learning opportunities.
No visit to Barcelona would have been complete without marveling at the architectural wonder that was Sangrada Familia. Designed by the legendary architect whose work and influence can be seen all throughout Barcelona, Antoni Gaud?. Sangrada is his life?s masterpiece and is a true testament to his genius and imagination. As we explored its intricate details and towering spires, it was a joy to witness such beauty all for the name of God. The visit to Sangrada Familia was not only a visual feast but also a reminder of the importance of creativity and innovation in the business world.
Concluding our month of adventures, we took a visit to Madrid, Spain’s capital, exposed us to the energy of the country’s government landscape. Madrid was home to numerous multinational corporations, financial institutions, and thriving start-ups. By immersing ourselves in this dynamic environment, we gained insights into Spain’s economic prowess and the global business trends that have shaped its success. Engaging in classes and an immersive cultural experience provided us with a comprehensive understanding of the Spanish and overall European Union economy.
A short trip from Madrid, we recently traveled to Toledo, which offered us a captivating journey into Spain’s rich history and cultural heritage. As business students, exploring Toledo provided us with a deeper understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusivity in the corporate world. The cathedral we visited and the city itself provided insightful discussions with our entire group. The city’s ancient streets, medieval architecture, and unique craftsmanship left a lasting mark on our cultural experience.
Studying business abroad in Barcelona, Spain, for one month was an extraordinary opportunity for us to combine academic excellence with cultural immersion. From exploring the bustling streets of Barcelona to admiring the architecture of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, this journey undoubtedly left a lasting impact on our personal and professional growth. We embraced the chance to expand our horizons, forge international connections, and gain a global perspective that has already set us apart by improving an essential skill set in the competitive business world. International business in a completely new, contrasting culture teaches vital competencies I believe have helped develop my professional development. Therefore, with my knowledge of the world immensely increasing, my personal growth has coincided. With that, I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and experience and am thankful for Texas A&M and our very own Dr. Panina who graciously taught and led us throughout the trip. (Everyone tell her happy late birthday!) So 6 countries, 8 trains, 11 cities, 15 planes, a couple hundred metros/buses, and what seems like a million taxis later, these past two months have been arguably the best of my life.?
