The past week that I have been in Barcelona has taught me so much about my own story and the ability to learn about others. I have never been to another country before and my eyes have been opened to so many new things through the culture and classes I am taking. Throughout this trip, I hope to gain a better understanding about how to relate to a culture that is different than my own, and to see a different perspective.
In Barcelona the people are very kind and welcoming. Their culture is different in the way that they enjoy long meals that last till way into the night. Although it is a busy and bustling city, time moves slowly and still feels as if there is no rush. Additionally, the people here are very relational and it is so cool to see that in coffee shops and restaurants. Even though I speak a different language, and am a foreigner in this place, they are very welcoming and kind. In school, I have learned so much about global business, and am excited to keep growing in knowledge about how to be globally aware and competitive. We have gotten to do a couple of tours around the city, and it has been so fun to get immersed into their history and landmarks. I especially loved visiting the Olympic gardens!
Although it seems that I would just be learning about another country abroad, I have actually learned so much about myself. Being in a different place, that is new and uncomfortable has challenged me and has helped me reflect into my own life, my own culture, and the decisions I make. I know this experience is going to continue teaching me life skills and that I will be a better person leaving, and I hope I can keep diving into culture, and be able to bring a new understanding back home.
