Going into my Spain trip I had no clue what to expect. I didn’t know the culture or the language but with the help of some amazing new friends, it turned into one of the most eye-opening experiences. Every day you wake up is another day of immersing yourself in their culture. Noticeably, people in Spain do not rest other than the siesta. They are a culture of constant movement and activity that was hard to adapt to initially. However, having new friends by my side on this journey has been a blessing. Not only have I been able to connect to people that I wouldn’t have known otherwise but they also strive to be inclusive, making the trip enjoyable for everyone. Each day has left me feeling extremely full inside my heart and physically exhausted, closing my eyes and in an instant being transported to the next day, leaving me ready to start exploring more of Spain. Shifting focus toward the school aspect it definitely feels different. The lectures are longer and are back-to-back, leaving you mentally drained afterward but also adding to the anticipation of being done for the day. Walking out of the business school where we take classes after a long day, I’m hit by a wave of energy as I look around at the buzzing city, revealing the magnitude of possibilities before me. I could either go walk Montjuic or go to the Barceloneta beach to read and enjoy my afternoon. In the end, I can’t wait to see where I’ll be at the end of this trip, not only as a student but also as a friend and human being.
