What a time I have had so far in Barcelona, Spain! To travel alongside 26 or so other Aggies and explore a new culture together has been an enriching experience. I enjoy stopping by the ??pasteler?a for a croissant, taking public transportation every which way, and trying all the different tapas! Life here looks quite different from my life at home, though; an adjustment for sure. While I miss the comfort of culture back in Texas, I am so thankful I have the opportunity to witness life elsewhere. Barcelona offers me public transportation, paella, and siestas, whereas Texas offers trucks, barbecue, and dinner at 5. Both are good, yet so different. I have found it refreshing and challenging?forever broadening my worldview and eyesight as I am now always on the lookout for pickpockets after I witnessed one trying to open my friend?s bag! What an adventure Barcelona has already been. During the first week alone, we saw so much of the city through guided tours and adventuring after class?my favorites being Sagrada Fam?lia, Casa Batll?, and the MoCo Museum. I am excited to see what else the capital of Catalonia has to offer and hope I take advantage of my time to gain a vast understanding and appreciation of the culture here. Not only are we learning about Barcelona outside of the classroom, but we are also learning about it within. Our time in class is spent discussing the history of the European Union and learning about the challenges within international business. We have guest speakers who come and share their views on topics such as the creation of the Euro and healthcare within the European Union versus the United States. I have genuinely been learning nonstop! I cannot wait to see what the rest of my time here holds.
