Before arriving in Dubrovnik, Croatia I was a little nervous but mostly excited. Being able to not only visit but to live in a totally different country was something I never thought I would be able to experience. I thought the Europe Innovation program would be able to teach me a different culture and to be exposed to how business is conducted internationally. Upon arriving in Dubrovnik I was in awe of the beauty that the town was consumed by and how kind the locals were, especially since we are from another country. Our dorm was also very clean and modern which has made it easy to adjust to. The only downside of the dorm is the air conditioning because it turns on and off a lot which is frustrating because most of the time it is very hot in Dubrovnik. My group and I have also visited a lot of the restaurants nearby and they have been very tasty and filling, for some reason I become fuller faster here than in the United States. As a tourist, I thought the prices would be around 10 Euros but it has been way more expensive than I thought it was going to be because a good meal is around 20. My friends and I have had to make a trip to the grocery store to stock up on basic snacks so we spend less money eating out. The locals have told us that the restaurants raise the prices of food for tourists which is so annoying! As a group we have also been on two excursions, visiting Lokrum Island and walking the Game of Thrones walls. These tours have been absolutely stunning and so informational about the culture and heritage of the town. The views from our tours have been beautiful and the guides have been very informative and kind when teaching us about Dubrovnik. Overall, my experience has been great and I feel very welcomed it?s been an easy adjustment.
