It?s my first week in Dubrovnik, Croatia and it has been incredible! Dubrovnik is beautiful! Its sunny every day and the nights are cool and breezy. The views around the town are gorgeous. The red roofs on the houses make the town look stunning. Dubrovnik is a very walkable city compared to the U.S. I love how you can walk anywhere and how there is always something to do close by. The food in Croatia is amazing. Everything is so fresh and delicious. My favorite has been the sandwiches and gelato. Also, Croatians are amazing people! Every time I?ve had a conversation with the locals, they have always been warm and welcoming. We went to the old town and walked through the walls of the city and saw where the Game of Thrones was filmed. The sights there are beautiful! We also learned about the history of Dubrovnik and how it was in a war in 1991. The city walls protected the city during that time but had to be later restored due to the damage. We had our first client meeting this past Wednesday which was exciting! I?m looking forward to helping the city of Neum market itself to the world and bring in more tourists. One thing that?s been a struggle here is the stairs. There are so many stairs to climb and many times we are walking on an incline which makes it hard to walk. What I hope to gain from this global experience is to learn more about Croatian culture, the people, and their way of life. It?s good to have a different perspective of how other countries live and do life compared to the U.S. I also hope to gain more knowledge about marketing and how you would apply the skills to market a city.
