After five weeks in Germany, I have a complete sense of the rich historical country. We spent time in Munich and Berlin which showed the stark difference between the two regions. During the classes I also got to learn about the EU so a combination of all the different perspectives has created a renewed and deeper sense of what it means to be a European. My favorite parts of the trip was by far Dachau where we got to see a concentration camp and learn about the dark history of Germany. Being able to learn about the tragedies there gave me a more clear understanding of the events of the Holocaust and World War 2. Another interesting thing was visiting Berlin which was split between East and West Berlin because of the Cold War. This divide due to communism showed immensely in the structure of the cities such as the train system. I want to continue to grow my global mindset by learning more about communism in Europe, the European Union, and World War 2. Huge thanks to the Center for International Business studies for allowing me to go on this experience and I hope to go on at least one more during my time here at Mays.
