My initial impression of Germany is that it is much more diverse than I expected. It is fascinating to see that Germany is like a melting pot of diverse cultures. When I get on public transportation or explore different parts of the city, it becomes evident that there are people from various backgrounds, cultures, and with different perspectives. In my study abroad journey. I hope to try new foods, explore new places, meet new people, and develop a greater understanding of what it means to have a global mindset. Developing a global mindset means to embrace the interconnectedness of the world. By immersing myself in German culture, I hope to gain new knowledge, insights, and perspectives that will broaden my understanding of a global mindset. With the globalization of today, not only is it important to understand business and economy of different countries but also how to work and communicate with others.
One major difference that I have observed between Germany, particularly in comparison to my experiences in Texas, is the prominent reliance on public transportation as the primary method of getting around. In Munich, an extensive network of buses, trams, and metros are integrated into the city, offering convenient and efficient transportation options throughout the city. I am still learning how to get around, but it is definitely convenient since we do not have cars here. The convenience of public transportation not only reduces traffic congestion and environmental impact but also promotes sustainability. Another difference is that Germans are very efficient with time because on the metro and/or bus people are already waiting by the door right before their stop just so they can quickly get off. As the study abroad program continues, I am looking forward to observing more differences between the U.S and Germany. I am excited for the next few weeks!
