I am studying abroad in Strasbourg, France for five weeks. When we first arrived at the airport, I was so excited about the weather difference from Texas to Europe. Sunny days here are cool and breezy and we have even had some super chilly days. The heat is one of my least favorite things about Texas, so this was a wonderful change! Another impression I had was that every distance is walkable, and I really enjoy getting to explore the city on foot in such beautiful weather. I have also found that ?athleisure? is not really a thing here and it has been fun to dress up a little more than I would at home every day for class. The program itself has been very well organized and put together and the other students are like minded and eager to get to know one another. I have already made some new friends that I can see as lasting friendships and it is only the first week! Going into this program I hope to gain a more profound understanding of different cultures and sharpen my adaptability. I can already see a positive impact in the short amount of time that we?ve been here. I am big on personal growth which is one of the reasons I applied to study abroad in the first place. This experience is pushing me out of my comfort zone and helping me to be more confident in many ways. Europe and the US differ in many ways but one of the most prominent is that EVERYONE here smokes cigarettes. Yes, people in the US smoke, but it really does seem as though everyone of age does it here. Overall, my experience in France and with the program have been very positive and I am excited to see what the rest of my experience holds!
