My initial impressions of the global business program in Singapore are extremely positive. The city is incredibly modern, clean, and well-organized, with a vibrant atmosphere and diverse cultural influences. I am struck by the level of economic development and technological advancements in the country, as well as the strong focus on sustainability and environmental protection.
The company visits offered a unique opportunity to gain insights into the local business landscape and gain exposure to a diverse range of industries. During these visits, we met with executives, tour facilities and learned about challenges and opportunities faced by companies operating in the region. These visits provide valuable insights into the workings of successful companies and can help to develop a better understanding of key drives of economic growth and competitiveness in the region.
In terms of cultural differences, I have noticed that Singaporean society places a strong emphasis on discipline, efficiency, and respect for authority, which is reflected in the way people interact with one another and the rules and regulations that govern daily life. There is also a strong emphasis on education and career success, with a highly competitive job market. Fun fact: Singaporean guys are required to pass a periodic fitness exam, with differing tier brackets of athleticism, with the first tier offering a cash prize of 300$.
I was able to gain a deeper understanding of the unique business and cultural dynamics of the Asian region, as well as a broader appreciation for the challenges and opportunities that exist in the global marketplace. I believe that this experience will broaden my perspective, help me develop new skills, and equip me with a more nuanced understanding of the complexities of international business.
Overall, I am grateful for the opportunity to immerse myself in the culture and gain hands-on experience in the global business environment. I believe this experience will be invaluable for my personal and professional growth, and I am eager to see what the future holds
