Howdy! My name is Catie Dennis and I was one of the lucky students who went to Costa Rica to study Latin American markets and business! While in Costa Rica we visited many different types of companies, which allowed us to learn more about the behind-the-scenes process of starting a business in Costa Rica.
One big difference that I noticed between businesses in the US and Costa Rica was the barriers to market entrance and the red tape that many people have to cut through before they can?start up their businesses. In Costa Rica the process can take up to a year and a half, however, in the US it only takes up to 6 months. Another thing I noticed was the importance of being environmentally friendly in Costa Rica. Many companies we visited had implemented processes that helped the environment in some way!
I am so grateful that I was able to go on this amazing experience. Costa Rica has given me the ability to understand different cultures and has allowed me to reach outside of my comfort zone in many ways, which is something that I will carry with me for the rest of my life!
