Wow, I can?t believe my study abroad in Spain has come to an end. It was truly the most amazing month of my life and was filled with so much growth and fun. I began the trip getting lost navigating the city, hardly knowing my roommates and classmates, and struggling to adjust to the drastically different culture that existed in Barcelona. I decided the best way to make the most of this amazing experience was to dive in head first. My roommates and I quickly began planning out fun things to do every day and without even realizing it, I was completely comfortable in this new city. We tried all of the Spanish foods and restaurants we could, admired the beautiful architecture around the city, and even took the time to travel beyond Barcelona and visited places like Mallorca, Madrid, and Galicia. Each and every moment I experienced brought a smile to my face and the idea that I was in a city thousands of miles away from my home and everything I knew so well seemed to completely slip my mind. I was immersed in the Spanish culture and had the time of my life abroad. As the trip went on, the experiences got better and better and I felt so incredibly lucky to have the experience to learn about international business from an American and Spanish perspective. I felt that Barcelona was quickly becoming a home to me, as Texas has always been. There are such amazing moments that the streets of Barcelona will always hold for me, and I know I will be back one day. Never having been out of the country until this trip, I was nervous, to say the least, but it has opened my eyes to the beauty of travel and sparked my love for new cultures and experiences throughout the world. I am so thankful CIBS, and Mays played a role in allowing me to have the most amazing experience of my life.
