When I say that this was the greatest experience of my life, I don’t mean it lightly. Since my last blog post, I have learned so much about the business culture in both Australia and New Zealand while exploring some of the most amazing places this world has to offer.
When it comes to expanding my international business acumen, I have learned a great deal about both countries culture as they both honor and acknowledge the people that came before them no matter the size of the meeting. Australia and New Zealand also give their employees a great deal when it comes to paid time off and leave as they offer 6 months of paid time off to either spouse after the birth of their child as well as 5 weeks of PTO per year. Their work culture is very much employee centered as they give their employees the ability to separate work and life, which from my perspective has allowed their employees to find more purpose and value out of their work.
Outside of our classroom and practical learning time, my cohort and I were able to explore both Auckland and Sydney as we went to black sand beaches, surfed some of the best waves in the world, and made memories that will last a lifetime.
Overall, this trip gave me life long friends and a clear understanding of what I want to do with my life. I came into this trip thinking about maybe moving to either country if the opportunity arose, but now if that opportunity arose, I would take it in a heartbeat.
