Before starting on this journey back in early 2024, I had no idea the amount of rules and regulations put in place to keep an entire continent as remote, desolate, and isolated as possible. From the teachings of multiple experts during the semester to the expedition guides that have been on this trip countless times, I learned all about how so many different countries can come together to agree to do something good for a change. They all put in place strict regulations to keep Antarctica as pristine as possible. All travel business there had strict regulations on where we could go and how many people can be on land at once. The courage that many leaders around the world took to push for the health of an entire ecosystem and the Earths health rather than to make more money may not ever be known, but certainly can be felt as soon as you arrive to the most beautiful place in the world.
Before ever travelling to somewhere so remote and exotic, I just thought of it as another place to travel and see. But through this experience, I was able to feel the impact of so many peoples tireless work to allow very few people the opportunity to experience and engulf myself in one of the most remote places on the planet.
