I have absolutely loved getting to experience the different cultures and the business world internationally. I have been staying in London, England, and will stay here for 5 days total, before moving throughout Europe. The Europe Marketing Program has made everything simple, efficient, and exciting. We have each day planned out, with free time, that allows us to be able to see every must-see sight, while not having to stress over the planning aspect of travel. This includes things such as Oxford University, Parliament, Big Ben, The London Eye, Buckingham Palace, and so much more, including things we saw on bike tours! We also have had the opportunity to visit companies such as Design Bridge and Partners, Chelsea Football Club, and Lloyd’s of London. I enjoyed getting to learn about each company and their employees’ day-to-day lives living in London. These companies helped give me a glimpse of what my future may look like, and what the work entails. One big difference between London and the United States, is the use of public transportation. We had to learn how to use their underground transportation system, which is how the majority of citizens commute to and from work. Additionally, we learned during some of our company visits that it is normal to only work Tuesday-Thursday in the office, rather than Monday-Friday. Another major difference is the pace of life throughout the city. An example of this is when you go out to eat, they will wait until you ask for a check to leave, rather than worry about trying to serve another table after you. They value the experience of connecting with friends, colleagues, or whoever it may be, and not always being in such a rush. I hope to continue to gain more knowledge of life outside of The United States, and expand my opportunities internationally. Overall, I have had an excellent experience with this program, and can not wait for the rest of my journey!
