Hi, my name is Emma Grebe, and I’m attending the Europe Marketing Study abroad! We travel to 7 different countries, and I have spent about a week in London, England thus far! I am super excited to continue to become more knowledgeable about Europe’s history and lifestyle throughout the different countries! A few noticeable differences I see are how the main form of transportation in London, England is taking the underground tube station and/or walking from place to place. Additionally the direction of the travel is opposite as they travel on the left side of the road compared to the right side in the United States. As we traveled this past week I also noticed how much quieter London citizens are as compared to the U.S.. Most people here in London seem to speak softly, and tend to themselves which is quite opposite of Texans know for their outspoken behaviors. A few other differences I didn’t expect was how small their water glasses are, and their stinginess with using ice! Similarly, restaurant waiters won’t typically give you your check unless you ask for it, while back in the states it’s pretty typical to receive your check before even finishing your meal.
I am super excited to continue this journey, and continue to gain insight to how people live in other countries! I am looking forward to speaking with locals, and hearing their perceptions of the United States, etc!
