This summer I went on the trip of a lifetime! I can’t wait to share all about it and I want you to experience this too. You will rarely get the opportunity to take a month away from life at home and travel abroad. I am thankful to have been able to do that alongside 80 Aggies which have now become some of my best friends.
My faculty-led program visited 8 countries in 28 days! I appreciated the well-thought-out itinerary which helped us make the most of our time abroad. The program was an incredible learning opportunity comprised of 15 business visits, student presentations, and educational activities. We also had free time to take off and explore the new cultures we were placed in. My life has been changed because of this trip and I see my world from a whole new perspective.
Innsbruck, Austria was my favorite stay of them all. We were kept very busy on the trip and didn’t have much time to slow down. So much to see, so little time! However, Innsbruck had a culture that was slow, inviting, and peaceful. One kind individual I met was my paragliding partner, who even flew us over his cousin’s house! I’m afraid of heights, but I faced my fears and experienced the most beautiful view of the Austrian Alps. Don’t be afraid to try new things when abroad.
I loved getting to experience numerous different cultures abroad. I recommend making an effort to talk to as many locals as you can. Part of my program required us to interview someone in every country, which was daunting at times but truly helped me see the world from a new point of view. From ordering my Aggie Ring in France to sitting on a gondola in Venice, the memories I made abroad will be cherished forever.
