?I think the biggest learning experience when traveling to Berlin was the different culture. When we were in Munich we noticed that people were a lot more quiet and to themselves. They went on walks and sat with their friends at bakeries. In Berlin, it’s a city full of busy and ambitious people. The first experience we had was a start up company called SumUp, who started out as a small company who wanted to get rid of credit card fees. Now they are a multimillion dollar company that is spread throughout the EU. The story of SumUp just shows how innovative and hard working the people of Berlin are.
Now it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows in Berlin, there were a lot of foul smells and homeless people. This definitely came as a shock to us when we first got there, because we were so used to Germany being clean as well as socially and environmentally friendly. When we saw the graffiti and homeless people everywhere we definitely realized why we had been told that there were two different cultures. The last week of the trip was really cool, we saw the BMW motorcycle factory as well as the VolksWagen Glass Factory. Overall I loved the experience and I am blessed to have been able to come on this trip.
