After being in Portugal for about a week, the trip has shattered my incoming expectations. Before coming, I of course did a little research about the country. The country looked great in pictures, and I read about the politeness of the Portuguese people. However, I took all of it with a grain of salt as pictures can be edited and experiences are subjective. After being in Portugal for a short time I can confidently tell you the online pictures don?t do the country?s beauty justice. I was shocked by how beautiful every site we visited was. All the people here are actually super sweet and friendly. I haven?t had one bad interaction with a local. Lisbon is a must-see city. Think of San Francisco but 10x better. The food here is great too. Of course, there are some dishes that I have not liked, but that comes with any country you go to. The important thing for me has been to try new things and not say no to something just because it ?looks gross.? The Portuguese take a lot of pride in anything they do which has made the experience such a great one for me. I have been to many foreign countries, and after being here for just a week, I can already confidently say Portugal has topped that list.
