Leading up to this trip I was more than excited and also nervous. I have never been away from home this long and had never pushed myself so far out of my comfort zone to experience an entire new culture with an entirely new group of people while learning new subjects. It?s a lot of new! But seven days in and I can tell you it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have already made amazing memories, met so many new people, figured out Munich?s transportation system, cut my screen time in half, and became a little more comfortable within the city!
Munich is vastly different than Texas! Everyone here is a lot more quiet and speaks at such a lower decibel in public places! The Germans love a good meal and can sit there for hours eating drinking and enjoying their company! Munich is very environmentally sustainable some examples of awesome practices are automatic lights everywhere, glass/paper straws, public transportation is #1, and even hotel lights/AC require a room key so when you leave, you?re not wasting power! These are huge benefits to me because I try to be more sustainable, so I?m very glad where I chose to go also aligns!
First and foremost, I?m hoping to gain 6 hours of college credit in the best way! I have already found that class content is more engaging because you?re in much smaller classes with professors that genuinely want to teach you the material to the best of their ability. I want to gain a new perspective on German Business and German living, and my own living as well! For only being here one week I have already had my eyes opened about living slower and enjoying leisure. I can?t speak too much on German business since we?ve only had one visit, but everyone seems to have livable wages, is extremely punctual, and as a whole takes Sunday as a rest day! They also seem extremely educated and very forward with new technology. I hope to gain a lot of things and take home just as many! One more month to go and it will be unbelievable I can tell! Thank you Texas A&M University for providing this once in a lifetime opportunity!
