Over the course of my time in Singapore, I learned a great deal about how businesses ranging from hospitality to research and development operate on a daily basis. I learned about the importance of communication between different fields of business and how a holistic approach towards the development of any form of product is the best way to ensure quality and efficacy. I also learned that, in the region of Singapore, cooperation with neighboring countries as well as countries that lead the industries of the region is important in the growth and spread of a business or product. In addition to learning a great deal about the business environment of Singapore, I also learned a great deal about the people of Singapore. I learned of various ways to show respect to people while dining, having a conversation, or even walking in public. Through my interactions with the locals of Singapore, I also learned about how a different region of the world views our home country and the people of the United States. Through this, I gained a new perspective about how both my home and myself are viewed by others. I learned just how much reputation matters when working to establish yourself in any industry and that it is incredibly important to treat others with a great deal of respect and appreciation. As my time in Singapore came to a end, I realized that my initial impressions of the diversity of the people of Singapore were nowhere near the true scale of the country. Every street is packed with people from all over the world who bring aspects from their homelands to the landscape of Singapore. Even the ?population sections? of the city such as Chinatown and Little India are filled with a plethora of intricacies that create infinite layers in the local and national culture of the region. I could have never imagined the immense variety of Singapore and the lessons that it taught me about interacting with other businesses and people. I am truly grateful for the time that I was able to spend in Singapore and I hope that I can return one day.
