Aside from the obvious between Austria and the United States such as language barriers and a lack of AC, Vienna is a very interesting place to be studying abroad. From what I have experienced so far, the campus area is a very calm, peaceful, and relaxing environment for learning. Around the campus area, there are hardly any people aside from the park area next door, and Vienna is a very safe and enjoyable city.
So far, one of the biggest differences that I have experienced between America and Vienna, is that weekends are very quiet as most things close early or are closed all day. Another noticeable difference is size of university. While TAMU has enough students to fill College Station, WU only holds about 21,000 students, and my international class is only about 30 people. This smaller learning environment is definitely different but not unwelcome.
Aside from the main differences, I have really enjoyed my time in Austria so far. The professor is very engaged and committed to learning and teaching. The city is a very good student environment, and I have enjoyed getting to meet students from about 15 different countries as well as learning more about international business strategy.
