Well first I’ll give some background information. Before coming to Barcelona for this study abroad trip. I was able to do about a month’s worth of solo traveling through Spain and Italy prior to class starting July 8th. I was able to visit Madrid, Sevilla, Cortoba, Granada, Malaga, Rome, Assisi, and Florence. These amazing cities prepared me a lot for what to expect here in Barcelona. Something I’ve noticed in the first week of being here is just how unique this city is in terms of how big, and spacious it is. It’s hard to see the local charms with all the tourist traps but this city still shines even with a lot of distractions. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being able to spend time with the group of students that we’ve brought here. I came here with 5 other fraternity brothers so it’s been amazing getting to share this experience with them as well. The amount of class has probably been the only thing I’ve really had to adjust to. I didn’t expect to be in class this much and studying as much as I am, but it’s a bullet I’m willing to take to spend time here in Barcelona. I struggle because I’m not a very business oriented person, but one thing I absolutely love about Spain and Italy, where I was before this, is the amount of churches and beautiful catholic history. I’m Catholic and it’s been amazing to be able to practice my faith all over Europe and connect with people through that shared faith. Looking ahead, I would say I’m very excited for the rest of the trip and the memories that will be created!
