Madrid was genuinely such a wonderful place to study abroad. The city was always bustling, and I was amazed by how many people were constantly out and about, enjoying life with their friends. The pace of life in Madrid is much slower compared to back home, and it was refreshing to see people taking the time to sit and chat over drinks and tapas for hours on end.
One of my favorite places to go was Retiro Park, where hundreds of people would lay out on picnic blankets, soaking up the sun and socializing. It was a vibrant scene that perfectly captured the essence of Madrid’s laid-back lifestyle.
The convenience of traveling around the city for just 8 euros a month on public transportation was another highlight. It made exploring Madrid and its many neighborhoods very easy.
Campus was especially beautiful during the spring. The cherry blossoms in full bloom added to the calming aesthetic, creating a serene environment for studying and relaxing on campus. Nearby, we discovered a fantastic Chinese restaurant where you could get a whole dish for just 5 euros. The affordability of food, combined with the concept of not paying tax or tip, made dining out in Madrid a nice experience.
