I have been fortunate to travel throughout my childhood, which has led to my appreciation for cultural diversity. I fell in love with discovering new places and meeting new people. Since I am pursuing international marketing, I knew that studying abroad would allow me to discover additional cultures so I can apply what I learn to my career. Visiting seven countries in one trip was truly the best thing I have ever experienced. I gained everything I was hoping to experience but also learned a lot.
Because marketing contributes to the first impression of any business, it was important to understand what attracted different cultures. It is essential to know the right way to approach your audience. I was able to learn about different cultures which increased my appreciation for diversity and the value it brings to both personal growth and professional success. Embracing diversity leads to more innovative solutions and richer experiences. I have developed greater patience and empathy, recognizing that different cultures operate at different rhythms. Additionally, with international collaborations, companies have access to new markets and valuable innovation. Opportunities abroad are countless, and it is important to take advantage of them. Being able to direct, determine, or promote a certain product, price, and place according to a customer’s point of view will maximize profits. Marketing is everywhere and is critical to the success of any business.
I realize that the most valuable lessons came from unexpected moments. It was in the unplanned encounters, the spontaneous ideas, and the everyday interactions that I truly learned about international business and connecting with people. This trip was a blessing and privilege. Thank you to Dr. Mac, Professor Phinney, Hannah Cole, and Dr. Dan for leading, planning, and coordinating the trip of a lifetime. And thank you to all of the wonderful people I met, the friendships made, and the memories I will cherish forever.
