Getting the opportunity to study abroad has been one of the biggest blessings in my college career! Before my program, I had never been out of the country and was looking for a way to experience new cultures. I found the answer to this search in seven countries throughout Europe. Being able to see how business interactions were conducted allowed me to build my international business skills. While abroad I was able to visit multiple companies in every country. This showed me how unique each country is while also being able to find connections to what I was learning in my classes. One of my favorite visits was to the Swiss Paraplegic Center. I was able to learn how their foundation approaches marketing from a true storytelling perspective. Along with this their emphasis on helping people all over the world stuck out to me. In a way international marketing is like connecting with those who we differ from within TAMU. You can find a connection with anyone by simply being genuine and asking good questions. Before my departure, I was unsure what to expect from my program. This was met with some culture shock upon my arrival. However, after getting past the initial differences I was able to see the beauty of each country we visited. I loved getting to witness how prevalent dogs were in everyday life in France. Getting to discuss life with other college students in Innsbruck, Austria opened my eyes to how similar our generation is. Overall I think that I truly began to gain immense knowledge from my experience when I made sure to slow down and take in every moment. My time abroad allowed me to see the value differences bring to the table in a completely different light. I will forever be grateful for my month abroad and the countless lessons learned from those across Europe.
