By the conclusion of my time in Strasbourg, many of my first impressions proved to be correct, but my understanding of them had deepened. What initially seemed like a slower lifestyle gradually became comfortable and beneficial. Having a more organized daily routine helped me stay focused on my coursework and better manage stress.
From an academic standpoint, studying at EM Strasbourg showed me that business education differs across countries. Classes placed greater emphasis on regulations, long-term strategy, and the role businesses play within society. Collaborating with students from various cultural and economic backgrounds helped me recognize how different perspectives influence the way business challenges are approached and solved.
Living abroad also strengthened my independence. I became comfortable using public transportation, managing everyday responsibilities in a new system, and communicating across language barriers. Although these adjustments were challenging at first, they became more manageable with time and experience.
Overall, this experience did not fundamentally change who I am, but it expanded my outlook. While my initial impressions were largely accurate, living in Strasbourg allowed me to better understand how culture shapes education, business practices, and daily routines. I leave with greater confidence, valuable international exposure, and a clearer understanding of how systems outside the United States function.
