My entire worldview has changed drastically because of this experience. Before going abroad, I had lived in Texas my whole life and had only been out of the country a couple of times. I truly believed that when I grew up, got a job, lived a life, and retired, it would all be in Texas. I thought Texas was the best state in the best country on earth, so why leave? However, after living abroad, my view has completely changed. I have now made it my life goal to live in as many different places as possible. The experiences I had in Milan were better than anything I’ve done in my life, and it showed me that there’s so much more out there than just Texas and the United States. While I still do love my home, I’ve learned that I love travelling way more. However, I don’t want to just be a traveler who vacations to places. I want to be someone who lives all over the world to experience different cultures and learns new languages. I loved meeting new people from all over the world because it showed me how different and similar people from different cultures are. My impressions of Italy were that it just has good food and angry Italians, and while that was mostly true, there was so much more to Milan than I could’ve imagined. The art, the buildings, the history, the nightlife, it gave me everything I wanted and more. My only regret is that I couldn’t stay longer. Not only is my goal to travel all around the world, but I also want to convince as many people to go abroad as I can. It has truly changed me as a person for the better. I am much more accepting of people from other cultures than I used to be, and now I love meeting people very different from me. I hope that everyone might experience this someday, especially my future kids.
