Studying abroad in Copenhagen will be an experience that I will look back on every day and appreciate the memories that were made during the semester. Living abroad has changed my perspective entirely. Experiencing all the different cultures, especially the Danish culture, has opened up my mind to the possibilities of my future. Before I went, I was pretty certain about what the next few years of my life would be, living in Texas and entertaining the idea of leaving, but never having the itch to actually do it. Now that I have experienced a life outside of Texas, I feel the need to keep educating myself and keep finding new versions of myself. I strive to keep chasing that feeling, and I will do so by always moving and always putting myself out there.
During my time, I was able to not only meet people from all over the world, but also make best friends from people all over the world. Through these friendships, we educated each other on our cultures, shared amazing dishes from our home country, and talked about similarities that I didn’t originally think I would have with people on the other side of the world from me. I still talk to these people every day, and I’m even going to visit one of them back in Copenhagen in a couple of weeks.
I wasn’t sure exactly what my life in Copenhagen would look like before I got there, but what I did expect was waking up to a beautiful city every day and being the happiest I’ve ever been, and that stayed true. I didn’t expect to create as impactful bonds with people that I did, and I definitely didn’t expect them to all be from all over. I missed being home, and I’m excited to finish out my time here at A&M with my friends and family, but I know that I’ll be back in Europe, and I will definitely be calling it home again.
