I have learned a vast deal about not only Antarctica’s role in global business, but about the place in general. This trip has truly changed me in the best possible way. For starters, I learned how much they truly contribute to business in the southern hemisphere. So much of the money that Ushuaia makes revolves around tourism to and from Antarctica. It is great to see how much this place can affect one of its port cities. Antarctica itself was fantastic. I could have never imagined all of the things we would see. I also learned just how many buildings there are that are set up. It seems that every stop we had was on a small island which had its own building set up. The boat itself was also an experience in itself. I loved the opportunity to get to speak to others on the ship. We didn’t have to go far to meet others as the ASU students were right there with us the whole time. It was cool as they were a large number of online students with all types of backgrounds. Some were mothers, some were just graduating, others were far into their careers. The ship was also full of unique people. One game we played highlighted how different everyone backgrounds were a we played life bingo. This trip both lived up to many expectations i had and killed many assumptions i had created. It was such a surprise to see how large Ushuaia was and how much stuff to do there was. I had assumed it was dead and small with nothing to do and no where to go. However this was far from the truth. I also thought that there would be nothing but ice and animals in Antarctica, but there was so much more. We got to see all the buildings and learn their history and why they were built. It has truly been the trip of a lifetime.
