Throughout my time in this program, I have grown as a student, leader, but more than anything as a listener. We were put in situation vastly different than our own from the first day; however, I realized this is where I would experience the most growth. I’ve learned to lean into, not feel, moments of discomfort. For example, being on the plane for 18 hours taught me the simple lesson to greet and hear the story of the person beside me. Additionally, touring the Sheikh Zayed Mosque was beyond comprehension, but I learned to embrace this and grow and learn from a culture and belief system that is vastly different from my own. I look forward to continuing to embrace this mindset to get the most out of the study abroad.
