We’ve only been in Auckland for three days, but this trip has already been such an eye-opening experience. The absolute highlight so far has been the spontaneous adventures we’ve squeezed into our free time. This morning, we joined a local gym class and then hiked Mt. Eden for a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city, all before our first official meeting even started!
The rest of the day was packed with professional and cultural insights. We learned about the New Zealand economy from the American Chamber of Commerce, visited The Poynton retirement village to study their healthcare system, and took a deep dive into local history during a walking tour of the harbor.
To wrap up an amazing few days, we headed to Cornwall Park, where we saw tons of sheep grazing right in the middle of the city. We ended the evening by cooking a massive group meal and hosting a Texas A&M alumnus who now lives here in Auckland. It was so cool to hear their perspective on life in NZ and share a home-cooked dinner with a fellow Aggie so far from home!
