Looking back at my time in Denmark, I have gained a deeper understanding of different cultures and myself. I experienced the cultures of different countries, a different education system, and more. This exchange helped put into perspective how much I did not know about other cultures and countries. As I met new people, became friends with them, and traveled through Europe with them, I truly got to experience more of the world. I became better at understanding different cultures and how those cultures formed. I felt like every new person I met brought something new and exciting from where they were from. This feeling made me more of an outgoing person and made me want to introduce myself to more people.
In my initial impression of Copenhagen, I stated that you could feel that this place has history that had been built up over the years. My initial impressions were further solidified as I went to other countries like Italy, Hungary, Slovakia, Germany and more. Each of these countries have their own history that led to different cultures being formed. This was something I noticed and made sure to learn. I also got the feeling that in Europe everything is more closely packed together in both cities and even people. I felt like it was a lot easier to meet people then back home.
As I prepare to return home from Denmark, I am both excited and sad at the same time. It will be nice to be back to where I have always been familiar with, meeting my friends and family back home. However, at the same time it will be sad as I have to say goodbye to all my friends I had made in Denmark. This experience is something that will stick with me for the rest of my life. It has been the best semester of school I have ever had.
