In my time in Madrid Spain has been absolutely eye-opening for an abundance of reasons. First and foremost, I was definitely right about the more Collective versus individualistic culture between the two countries, my home country and Madrid. Not only has Madrid changed my perspective on a lot of different ways of life but so has my travels around different countries such as Morocco, Scotland, England, Ireland, Germany and France. I was blessed enough to have the opportunity to visit such a wide array of countries and got to learn so much about different languages, cultures, foods and just individual people that I met along the way in my travels like in hostels or visiting friends and meeting their friends. There’s a lot that I’ve been able to take away and it really is too much to be able to write in such a short amount of time but one of the main things is simply gratitude for my life and the opportunities that I have had to be here and spend such a wonderful time enjoying so many different things, and also becoming a more well-rounded individual now that I have accumulated so much knowledge on a larger scale as a result of visiting all of these different countries and meeting so many different people traveling and interacting with other international students. I had two roommates two from the Netherlands and one from Germany one which was also a guy which at first was very weird to me just a tad but I’m also very adoptable person so it didn’t bother me too much and it made me realize that there is such a large negative view on men and women being able to coexist in the United States versus here in Europe as a whole it is not seen as anything weird for people of the opposite sex to be just living together. It is actually extremely normal which at first, I did find weird but then I got obviously used to it as one of my roommates was male and it also served a great purpose for giving me that more full and well-rounded experience.
