Howdy,
I have officially been in Copenhagen for almost 2 weeks now and have been attending school for 3 days, and I have initial first impressions ranging from Danish culture to the different class formats at my host university.
Firstly, everything here is clean and green. Receiving is a big deal here, and there are always people outside doing some activity. In the first week of officially living here, I’ve encountered people from all over the world, learning about new cultures and sharing some knowledge on my own. Everyone here has been nothing but nice and helpful. I was at first intrigued by being in a foreign area and getting lost, but so far, I have been helped in any way needed.
As for my host university, they have been extremely accommodating and welcoming. The first week in Copenhagen, the school hosted a welcome week/social week, and through that, I got to meet some amazing people and get adjusted to my way around the city a little more. As for the lectures, it’s a little different because everything is completely on your own; you don’t have any busy work to keep you in line, and it’s completely up to you to pace yourself and read the material needed for lectures. Lectures are longer, but they usually have breaks in between.
So far my favorite part has been meeting people from all over the world, it really opens up your mind about every culture, it made me realize that no matter where you live in the world, there are similarities in everyone.
