I am currently writing inside my dorm in Barcelona, Spain. Barcelona has been quite the experience. The culture in Spain is full of youthfulness and art. The way the city operates is quite different from that of the US. They run a little bit later. For example, normal lunch time is around 2 pm, and dinner will be around 9 pm. Very different from my schedule in the states. It makes sense though. One of the first things I noticed about Spain was that the sun stays up until around 10 or 10:30, so the fact that their schedule is shifted up makes sense. I did some research on this and saw that Spain, along with some other countries, is actually in the incorrect time zone. If they were in a time zone based on daylight times, they would be shifted up a couple of hours; however, because of World War 2, they were placed on a united time zone with the rest of their European allies, making their time zone inaccurate in regards to daylight hours. That was a lengthy explanation of one main difference I have already spotted in Spain. While I am just a few days into my trip, I am enjoying it greatly and heavily anticipating seeing everything else Barcelona has to offer!
