This summer has been such a blessing and has helped me grow in so many ways, both personally and professionally.
Working in a foreign country where a different language is spoken was intimidating at first. But as I settled into life in Barcelona, I began to realize that while there were cultural differences, many aspects of my work felt familiar. My boss was a young, dedicated, and driven entrepreneur, and I learned so much from him. His passion for his business reminded me of the same energy and ambition I’ve seen back home, and I loved being part of that.
What stood out to me most was the incredibly warm and close-knit atmosphere I was welcomed into. My workplace wasn’t just a space for productivity; it quickly became a community. My coworkers and boss weren’t just colleagues; they became friends. I had the chance to experience so many cultural traditions and local events with them, and I’m genuinely grateful for the relationships that formed over these few months.
Being part of a small company gave me a lot of freedom and responsibility. I had the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to operations and marketing, which made the work all the more rewarding. I’m especially thankful that even as I leave Barcelona, I’ve been offered the chance to continue working with the company remotely, a testament to the impact I was able to make and the connections we built.
Looking back, this internship wasn’t just about gaining professional experience; it was about stepping out of my comfort zone, learning how to adapt, and embracing a new culture. Barcelona has given me more than I ever expected, and I’m walking away not only with new skills and work experience, but also with memories, friendships, and a broader perspective that I’ll carry with me wherever I go.
