I can’t believe this trip has finally come to an end. It has been 4 weeks but time has never moved so fast and I feel like I am leaving right after I just got there. I am so sad to go home and this is an experience that has truly shaped me as a person. I have become more independent, made lifelong friends, become more confident in myself, and gained new perspectives. In addition to this, I have learned so much about conducting business in Italy. When I heard business is different here I thought that was just something people said and it couldn’t be that accurate. However, everything truly is done so much differently here and that was a shock to see. I have gotten accustomed to the hand movements, the basic phrases, the slower movement of business, and the stronger relationships you build with those you work with. Working with a local farmer from Circular Farms/Funghi Espresso I have really been able to see all these things firsthand. Antonio the head of this farm was truly a pleasure to work with and helped me fully immerse myself in Italian culture and this experience. My time abroad has changed my entire perspective on life. A new world has opened up to me and I think I will now be more conscious of the world around me and outside of America. I definitely hope to travel back and I may even consider moving or working here one day. My initial thoughts were pretty accurate as Italians are quick to show you how they are so after the initial shock I was able to figure out the way of life here pretty easily. I am so grateful for this experience and I will carry it with me the rest of my life both through my personal life and professional career.
