Starting my internship at Premier Publishing in Ireland has been a rewarding experience so far. The team welcomed me with professionalism and warmth. I’ve already had the chance to contribute to meaningful work. I enjoy the daily rhythm, which blends structure with opportunities to approach problems with my own unique solutions.
One thing I’ve noticed about doing business in Ireland is the informal yet efficient communication style. Emails and meetings are direct and there’s a strong emphasis on relationships and approachability. These combined make for a comfortable work environment that you don’t have stress about. People take pride in their work, but there’s also room for humor and storytelling, which helps build rapport quickly. Lunches are generally eaten together with conversations ranging from stories from the previous weekend to sports and even to politics. Many of my colleagues have similar interests to mine including American football. They have genuine interest in my perspective and experiences as an American and are more than happy to tell me about Irish culture and history.
Outside of work, I’ve explored parts of the west coast, including a visit to the Cliffs of Moher and a day trip to Galway. I’ve been enjoying Dublin’s great food, beautiful music, and vibrant nightlife. I also attended a Zach Bryan concert at Croke Park, making up for missing the opportunity to see him when he came to Snook. These experiences have been a ton of fun and helped me better understand the Irish way of life.
