Ciao friends! I’m JD Webb, a Finance major at Mays Business School, and I’m currently spending four weeks in Italy with the Italy Business study abroad program. It has truly been one of the most incredible experiences of my life so far.
We began our journey in Rome, where we explored so much of the city’s rich history and culture. Walking through the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and visiting the Vatican and St. Peter’s Basilica felt surreal. It was the perfect way to start off the trip.
After Rome, we made our way to Florence, which has been just as amazing. The city is full of energy, charm, and beautiful views. It’s also where we’ve started our classes and have really gotten into the business side of the program. So far, we’ve met with four companies, and each one has been incredibly insightful. We’ve learned how tourism shapes the economy here and how local entrepreneurs build successful brands that reflect Italian culture. Every company visit has added a unique and valuable perspective to what we’re learning.
Outside the classroom, we’ve had some unforgettable experiences. We took a pasta-making class, went on guided city tours, and shared plenty of group dinners and gelato runs. There’s something about being in Florence that makes every moment feel special, whether we’re learning or just walking through the streets with friends.
This trip has been the perfect mix of education, exploration, and fun. If you ever get the chance to study abroad, I truly recommend it. It’s an experience you’ll always carry with you. Ciao for now!
