Deciding to step out of my comfort zone and study abroad was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Not only did I learn about different cultures, but I also discovered a lot about myself. Living in Strasbourg, France—with no prior experience in Europe and little knowledge of the language—I initially struggled to adjust. Simple tasks like ordering food or asking for directions felt intimidating, and I often doubted myself. However, I quickly realized that confidence plays a huge role in how we experience new environments. By choosing to be more self-assured and open, I gradually became more comfortable interacting with locals and navigating unfamiliar situations. Each small success helped me grow more confident and enjoy the trip more fully. This experience taught me that self-confidence isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about trusting yourself enough to take risks and learn through challenges. It’s a lesson I’ll carry with me into future travels, academic settings, and professional life. In the business world, this mindset is essential for handling uncertainty, building relationships, and adapting to new markets or teams. Studying abroad gave me real-life experience in stepping into the unknown, something that’s highly valuable in any global business environment.
