The Europe Marketing Trip was the experience of a lifetime. I never expected that I would enjoy learning about how businesses operated in different countries. I learned so much about the similarities and differences between marketing strategies across the different business sectors we had the opportunity to observe. Some of my favorite business visits we did included the Design Bridge and Partners, a marketing agency that has been the creative minds behind campaigns that I remember seeing, and the Lloyd’s of London. I didn’t expect to enjoy the Lloyd’s of London as much as I did, but I still talk about that tour because it was so interesting.
Almost every individual in the countries we visited were so excited to talk to us once we let them know we were students. I had some of the most eye opening conversations with people that I probably would have never met, if not for this trip. I learned about different career paths, what their take on tourism was, but most importantly I learned what their story was. Sometimes the language barrier was difficult, but even in broken English I was able to understand their enthusiasm and joy in having a conversation with students.
Before going on this trip, I was a little nervous about making friends. Since the class is application based, I didn’t really know who was going on the trip until our very first departure meeting. However, if you told me in October that the people on this trip would become important people to me, I wouldn’t have believed you. The people on this trip were some of the most intelligent, kind, and hardworking people. There wasn’t a single person that you could go up to and not have a meaningful conversation with. I am so excited to see everyone in the fall, August can not come fast enough.
Overall, I wouldn’t trade this experience for the world. I had so much fun exploring a new country and meeting new people, both in Mays and all over the world.
