Hello from Italy! Currently studying International Business and Finance, and I am excited to share my experiences so far. The trip has been nothing short of amazing, and I’m thrilled to be part of a program that not only allows me to travel beyond the US and experience the wonders of the world but also broadens my academic horizons.
Right off the plane in Rome, I was fortunate enough to see some of the world’s most iconic historical sites. From the breathtaking Basilica of S Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri to the magnificent Colosseum and Roman Forum, every corner of the city tells a story. The Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel left a profound impression on me. The art and history are staggering, and the experience of seeing the famous Swiss Guard in person was surreal (Sabaton fan here). Climbing to the top of St. Peter’s Basilica gave me a stunning panoramic view of Rome, which felt like the perfect way to end an unforgettable day.
After an inspiring few days in Rome, I traveled to Florence to continue my adventure. This was where we were to begin our studies into international business and financing.
I look forward to the classes. Taking them will give me a valuable edge in life that I hope will open me to more opportunities in my field (especially abroad). I hope that in studying International Business abroad, I will better understand global markets and working internationally through firsthand experience and adapting to different business cultures. Through International Financing, I hope to achieve an understanding of international trade and managing businesses through different currencies.
Comparing Italian to U.S. culture, Italians seem to value savoring every moment. This contrasts with the often fast-paced, efficiency-driven culture back home in the U.S. The emphasis here on art, history, and tradition also shapes daily life, offering a rich context that influences business and social norms.
Overall, this program is the perfect combination of professional growth and personal adventure. I’m looking forward to more discoveries, new friendships, and gaining insights that only a global experience like this can provide. I am excited as I continue to explore the incredible sites and culture of Italy!
