As this program comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible memories and meaningful connections I’ve made during my time abroad. The friendships and experiences I’ve gained are truly ones that will last a lifetime. Not many people can say they’ve climbed Mt. Titlis or explored Neuschwanstein Castle with such a unique group of individuals. Even the chance encounters along the way—like meeting Laura and Anna, who own a leather shop in Verona, or Lenny, a university student from France—have broadened my perspective and shown me just how much the world has to offer. I’m especially grateful to the companies that welcomed us, shared their marketing strategies, and offered insights into their business operations. As someone pursuing a career in marketing, with aspirations to work internationally, this was an invaluable opportunity. This trip provided not only a glimpse into my future but also revealed a world of possibilities I had never imagined. Traveling to these cities also challenged some of my initial expectations. For instance, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Innsbruck, Austria. While I’d heard about its adventurous activities like paragliding, I chose to explore through hiking instead. The people were incredibly welcoming, and we even stumbled upon a local music festival, where we had the chance to speak with residents and gain their perspective on life in the city. One notable cultural difference I experienced was how meals are approached in Europe. Dining is treated as a leisurely experience rather than something rushed. The service staff often waits for guests to initiate requests, which is a stark contrast to the fast-paced dining culture in the United States. It was fascinating to witness and adapt to this more relaxed and intentional style of hospitality. Overall, this has truly been the trip of a lifetime. While I’m sad it’s coming to an end, I find comfort in knowing that the friendships I’ve made are waiting for me back in College Station. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
