Studying abroad has been one of the most life-changing experiences I’ve ever had. Before leaving home, I didn’t fully realize how big the world truly is, both in size and in the diversity of people, cultures, and ways of life. Being in a different country opened my eyes to how much more there is outside of my own routine and perspective. From everyday conversations with locals to small observations about food, customs, and pace of life, I learned that the world is made up of so many beautiful differences, and each has something unique to offer.
One of the most powerful parts of the experience was connecting with people I would have never met otherwise. Whether it was a shop owner sharing their story, or someone pointing me in the right direction when I was lost, these interactions helped me appreciate the kindness and depth of people across the globe. It reminded me that no matter how different we may seem, we’re all human.
Most importantly, studying abroad helped me stop sweating the small stuff. Instead of worrying about little things, I started focusing on the beauty around me—new cities, unfamiliar languages, stunning landscapes. I began to feel more present, more grounded, and more in awe of God’s creation. Every day became a chance to learn something new or see something breathtaking.
Now, I want to see more of the world. I want to keep exploring, keep learning, and keep appreciating the vastness of this Earth. This experience gave me a better mindset and a grateful heart. I now carry a sense of wonder with me that I don’t ever want to lose, and I know this is just the beginning of a lifetime of exploring God’s world.
