Studying abroad in France has been nothing short of transformative. In just two weeks, I’ve experienced tremendous personal growth, both intellectually and emotionally. Navigating a new country has challenged me in ways I never anticipated. It has forced me to problem solve, adapt quickly, and rely on my own judgment. These moments have not only built my confidence but have shown me how capable I truly am.
One of the most profound takeaways has been a deepened appreciation for cultural diversity. Immersing myself in French life by observing the daily rhythms, traditions, and perspectives has broadened my worldview. It’s helped me understand the richness of a life that values balance, community, and quality of experience. In witnessing how others live, I’ve grown more grateful for my own life while also identifying areas where I hope to grow.
Typically, I move through life at a fast pace, always focused on the next task or goal. But being in France has gently encouraged me to slow down. Whether it’s enjoying a long meal, strolling through historic streets, or simply observing a quiet moment at a café, I’ve learned to live more presently and intentionally. These experiences have given me a renewed sense of clarity and calm that I hope to carry forward.
This journey has already been deeply enriching, and it’s only halfway through. I look forward to what the next two weeks will bring. My time in France has been a reminder of how much there is to learn beyond the classroom and how transformative stepping outside one’s comfort zone can be.
