I have been in Europe for about a week and have already fallen in love with it. We stayed in London for the first few days and arrived in Paris today. For me personally, London felt similar to the US, specifically New York. This was not my first time in England but I was fascinated by how much I learned even the second time. I even got to visit places I had seen before like Elizabeth Tower and the Tower of London and still learned things I didn’t know before due to the rich history everywhere in London. The people in London were kind and it was easy speaking the same language. I was most fascinated by how mobile their life is. This is the same in Paris, except for the language part. Even just being here a few hours I have realized how hard it is to talk to people. I hope to gain more insights into different cultures throughout this trip and I have no doubts that I will because we are visiting so many different places where life is so different. I also hope to learn how to be able to adapt to a new culture. In life, you never know where you’ll end up and I hope this trip prepares me for change. So far I have noticed it enhancing my problem solving and critical thinking skills when trying to understand where we’re going, what we’re doing, and how to blend in with the people around me. A cultural similarity I have seen is the emphasis on religion everywhere. Going to church in London and I saw that people all over the world are worshiping God in the same way we do. And other countries are being very strong in their faith as well. Specifically there is a lot of Catholicism. Overall, I can tell this is going to be a great month.
