Howdy readers! I am one week into my two week program of traveling across Europe. So far each country continues to surpass my expectations as we jump country to country. My first impression of the program was that it was so put together and structured. Our tour guide Lydija is so genuine and a well-traveled person, which makes this trip all the more pleasant. This is my first time seeing and experiencing a different country and culture that is not my own. Throughout traveling to the different countries and cities, you begin to see with similarities of those countries to each other. For instance, Switzerland and Austria are two countries that border each other, which if comparing to the U.S. and Mexico are different in culture, but these two countries are very similar. The food, the currency, the language differs slightly but hold a lot of similar qualities especially when it comes go structures and architecture. At first, I was a bit nervous. A foreign country, a new language surrounded by people I have never spoken to before but have most likely seen passing in the halls of Wehner. However, I have come to the realization meeting new people that have also never traveled across the country is so fun. We are both experiencing new scenes and new cultures together. Constantly, we are comparing the U.S. to whatever country we are, whether it’s the food, the structures, or the driving style. The food is much healthier, the structures are much more intricate and imply a deeper meaning, and the driving is equally as chaotic. These countries are beautiful and rich in history which I am deeply excited to keep learning and exploring how the country operates today and how past history and events has shaped what is today.
Thank you for tuning in!
