Ever since learning about the Europe Marketing Study Abroad trip in my first marketing class, I knew that this would be the trip of a lifetime. I was always on the fence about doing a trip like this during my time in college, but this soon changed after listening to Dr. Mac’s incredible program. The trip so far has been as amazing as I anticipated, even after only visiting London. London offered so much to us including unforgettable cultural, eye-opening business visits, and
so many fun activities. Not only this, but it is absolutely amazing to be able to experience all of this alongside people that are on the same or similar trajectories.
Starting off, we toured Oxford University and the surrounding area. This was a great introduction into Europe all around, from the food to the rich history. We then had the opportunity of listening to the Senior Creative Reputation Manager of Design Bridge and Partners. This is a global branding agency that strives to move people into action. Next, we toured Parliament which taught us about the government in London and boasted beautiful architecture. The next day we were able to experience more about London through a bike tour around the city. We were able to get up close and learn about famous landmarks, people, and got invaluable information from a local. That night, we rode the London Eye, which has been a highlight of my trip thus far due to the breathtaking views. The next morning, we toured the Tower of London and did a night bike tour. Both of these activities gave us deeper insight into what we had already heard about in order to further tie the city together. Lastly, we toured the Chelsea Football Club stadium and Lloyd’s of London. These two visits are unforgettable and I
learned so much about both businesses.
As you can probably tell, the experiences on this trip are something to be extremely grateful for, as you would not get this level of knowledge from anything else. London’s culture is definitely different from the United States as they are more fast-paced, soft spoken, blunt at times, and have a more serious nature. While the differences here were not too far off from Texas, I expect other countries we visit to be a little more of a drastic change. I am incredibly excited for the remainder of the trip and it has already moved by so fast. I hope to learn more about the amazing businesses here, the variety of cultures, and Europe’s rich history as well as make lifelong friendship.
